Here you will find some of the questions asked by our cleaning clients on a regular basis, with answers to help you better understand the carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning process by Zippy.
Q: Does the room need to be cleared of all furniture before cleaning?
A: No. It is helpful if you can remove all of the furniture, however it is not essential. We appreciate that it can be difficult in many homes to find space in other rooms to move furniture in to and some big items such as sofas are very difficult to move safely. So all we ask is that you please clear the room of as many small and or breakable items as possible, you can leave big furniture in situ and we will do our best to move it around as the cleaning happens or go around/under any very heavy items such as sideboards/wardrobes etc.
Q: How long will it take for the carpets/upholstery to dry after cleaning?
A: This depends on a number of factors, temperature and air flow in the room being the most crucial but also the type of weather on the day and thickness of carpet pile. On a dry/warm day with good ventilation (windows open) a carpet should be dry enough to use the room within a few hours. If you are having several rooms cleaned, often the first room cleaned is dry before the whole job is finished.
Rainy days can make drying take longer and the worst thing you can do for inhibiting drying is to shut all of the doors and windows in the room as the water vapour has no where to go.
We have high power fans which we will use to speed up the drying process, but the time the fan is on is dependent on how long we are at the property. In other words, cleaning the carpet in a one room will only allow for 15-20mins of fan drying, but if we clean the whole house, most rooms will have a chance to be fully fan dried as we move on to clean the other rooms.
Q: How long will it be until I can walk on the carpet?
A: Ideally you should wait for the carpet to be dry to the touch before walking on it, but this is not always practical, so you can walk across the carpet barefoot straight after cleaning if you need to. We do advise though not to wear shoes or get the carpet dirty in any way until it is fully dry as dirt on wet carpet will be harder to remove than dirt on a dry carpet and drying will take longer if you compress the carpet fibres by walking on it.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: Cash, Cheque, or Bank Transfer. We do not currently have the facilities to take card payments. Cash or Bank Transfer are our preferred methods.
Q: Can you remove this stain?
A: This is unfortunately impossible to answer up front. Carpet stains have a lot of variables – the type of substance causing the stain, the type of carpet/fabric fibre, how long the substance has been in contact and whether or not previous chemical attempts to remove it have taken place, all play a role in the likelihood of a stain being removable.
It is just a fact of life that some stains may be permanent and repeated attempts to remove it may damage the carpet or upholstery further.
What we can say is that we will attempt stain removal with the most appropriate product for the job and do our best to improve the appearance as much as possible.
